I love smart discourse and I'm open to hearing all sides of a discussion I just hate trash talk.<br />just gotta ask....why are you an angry turtle?KatieDhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02396959609759793891noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-891732342347304896.post-10881303069003968142010-03-21T18:22:28.602-07:002010-03-21T18:22:28.602-07:00This comment has been removed by the author.KatieDhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02396959609759793891noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-891732342347304896.post-43489683704564403852010-03-21T14:03:26.007-07:002010-03-21T14:03:26.007-07:00To gather from what I have learned from comic book...To gather from what I have learned from comic books and sci-fi shows, an alias gives all the power to the person. The problem is that it incredibly passive and ultimately weak. Alas, I am responding and commenting using an alias as well. They are not inherently simple or foolish. I happen to love my name cause OneAngryTurtle is so incredibly stupid and fun. I agree with BJ's comments because now in our society using an alias has become the equivalent of a prank phone call. I agree it is up to teachers to teach better etiquette but also on parents and society to do the same. It is also your responsibility. As we have read, it is important to set guidelines for what is and is not considered inappropriate for your blog or website. There is also a point to which we must not take these things personally. I know that this is hard and sometimes unavoidable but the fact will always be that some people will take the wrong route in communicating. Just remember that they are not trying to communicate at this point and merely seek attention. Isn't that more pathetic than hurtful?LibrarianKINGhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11580669443263037009noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-891732342347304896.post-87434252128395346672010-03-19T22:21:35.084-07:002010-03-19T22:21:35.084-07:00In the age of technology, it is easier to remain a...In the age of technology, it is easier to remain anonymous hidden behind an alias or username. I believe many people use this concealed identity as an excuse to bully and use bad manners. Our goal is to build a community of learners; community is built on respect. We definitely need to teach students technology etiquette and respect for others. Too bad many adults have missed out on learning good etiquette.BJhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11268872891143964458noreply@blogger.com
